What we're about

Welcome to the group!

This is a space where art classes and self development go hand in hand. Everyone is welcome with or without artistic 'talent'.

Are you itching to get creative again? Have the feeling that creativity is missing in your life? Perhaps you have a demanding life or job which doesn't allow much time for yourself? Are you looking for a new direction in life and would like to explore options in a non-judgemental and creative way? Do you need some calm in your life? Have you been through a hectic period and need to process some difficult emotions or events?

These are all good reasons to join and enjoy the activities advertised in this Meetup.

After more than 15 years in the field of therapeutic arts I'm very happy to introduce you to this free and creative process and guide you through your own journey.

I run a practice in London, Brighton and online where I work one to one with clients, travel around the world exhibiting my own artworks and facilitate workshops and retreats.

Come and connect with some great people at one of the next workshops, it's a lot of fun and a great opportunity to relax and regain some energy.

Hope to see you soon!

Art & Meditation Class - Combining a reflective and creative practice

Brighton Open Market

£20.00

This is a therapeutic arts workshop which I have developed over the past ten years teaching and working with different groups of people and organisations as an artistic therapist. It combines a therapeutic painting technique (water colour based) with meditation and mindfulness promoting a calm, compassionate and contemplative state of mind. Rather than focusing on a nice looking result we focus on the process of creating, bringing a mindful and meditative aspect into the activity....pausing, arriving, relaxing, understanding and letting go. We reflect on our creative journeys at the end of the class and get to see each other's style of painting, choice of colour and theme which is incredibly insightful. It is a very safe and friendly space which inspires interest in each other's individual artistic and personal process. You share as much as you like and learn a lot from the other artists! This can become a regular practice which promotes contemplation, self-care, self-development and a reconnecting with your creativity and self-expression. No artistic experience is needed and all materials are provided. Taught by myself in small groups of up to 7 people. You will have to book your space in advance and of course feel free to invite others to join. See you soon! x

After Work - Mindful Creativity Class

And finally we're ready to offer this post-work Therapeutic Arts Class for those of you who have a 9-5 job but have been interested in developing a regular creative and reflective practice. So no masterpieces required, the pressure is off ;-) You will be guided by Anniek Verholt, an experienced artistic therapist (18+ years and UK registered) and visual artist. The only thing you need to do is sign up and show up. All materials are provided as well as a cup of tea. We'll make use of a specific water colour technique and pay attention to personal development themes. This class has been described as extremely relaxing, therapeutic and supportive in an increase in self-awareness, reduction of stress and anxiety.
