Celebrate George Washington’s Birthday 🎉

Details
Join us for a day of history, music, dance, and fun as we honor George Washington’s birthday!
Join us on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Historic New Bridge Landing, 1201 Main Street, River Edge, NJ, for a celebration of Washington’s Birthday hosted by the Bergen County Historical Society.
The Tricorne Dance Ensemble will perform lively 18th-century songs and dances in the historic 1752 Steuben House at 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM, accompanied by live fiddle and hammered dulcimer music.
Explore Revolutionary War artifacts and selections from the society’s Washington collection on display in the Steuben House.
Savor seasonal refreshments available for purchase inside the tavern, and browse unique items in the gift shop.
Visit the society’s authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen, where interpreters will prepare traditional 18th-century dishes such as Cheshire pork pie, orange chess pie, and syllabub (an old English dessert made with white wine, sugar and heavy cream).
Experience military life demonstrations by re-enactors from the 3rd New Jersey Regiment.
Family-friendly activities include a Washington-themed scavenger hunt with prizes and a QR Code History Challenge—a cell phone-based scavenger hunt with videos and questions throughout the site.
Tickets: $12 for adults, $7 for students; free for BCHS members. Reservations are encouraged due to limited space for performances.
Free parking is available on-site. Alternatively, take the train to the “New Bridge Landing” station on the Pascack Valley Line.
