This class explores personal and universal archetypes through art, intuition and inner exploration. Each week, we’ll engage in exercises like creating self-portraits, visual storytelling, and expressive painting. The focus is on tapping into deeper layers of identity and creative potential, allowing participants to bring inner worlds to life on the canvas. It's accessible to artists of all levels.
*May 22 - Class 1 - Create a self portrait
Explore your inner archetype by creating a self-portrait. Use colors, textures, and/or patterns that evoke the energy and qualities of who you are or want to become. Materials: Drawing tools (pencils, markers, or pens) and paper. Optional watercolor or acrylics and brushes - paint set and brush set is recommended.
May 29 - Class 2 - Patterns of the Inner Self
Design a pattern inspired by the essence of your self portrait. Use symbols from nature, your environment or use your intuition to let your hand create as you go. Consider how the patterns reveal your inner landscape. Materials: Drawing tools (pencils, markers, or pens) and paper. Optional watercolor or acrylics and brushes - paint set and brush set is recommended.
June 5 - Class 3 - Ancestral Reflections
Create a tribute piece inspired by your heritage or personal lineage. Use collage, mixed media, or natural materials to capture a moment or tell a part of the story. How do you fit into the narrative? How does it continue to shape you? Materials: Magazines, fabric scraps, natural objects, glue, mixed media paper.
June 12 - Class 4 - Intuitive Painting
Let your hand move freely, focusing on the energy and emotion you’re experiencing. Observe the shapes and symbols that emerge without judgment. How do they connect with your ancestral reflections, patterns, or self-portrait? Notice what these forms evoke for you. Materials: Acrylics or watercolors, larger paper or canvas, brushes, sponges, or your hands.
June 19 - Class 5 - Visual Storytelling
Expand your archetype. Does it include a challenge, a transformation and a resolution? Does it need to? Use colors, shapes, and the elements you’ve created to depict emotions and qualities. Reflect on the process and what it reveals. Materials: Any combination of materials from earlier sessions—paint, collage, pens, pencils.
June 26 - Class 6 - Feeling into the future
Depict an animal, specific flora, or a certain setting that embodies qualities you admire or wish to cultivate. Incorporate elements of its environment or symbolism. Reflect on how it relates to your journey. Materials: Any combination of materials from earlier sessions—paint, collage, pens, pencils.
*First class has passed at time of posting, but archetype quiz and discussion info available. Inquire at the next class.
