About us

Founded in 2018, the Social Club for Excellent Lady Types (formerly known as Female Friendships Perth) is a group for those who identify as female or non-binary looking to meet new people, network and make friends.

Whether it's brunch and coffee catchups, walks, dinners, movies, book clubs etc, our aim is to have a great time hanging out with fantastic lady types while being our authentic selves. Making friends as an adult is hard, we aim to make it easier!

This Meetup® group is about making genuine and lasting connections and friendships between ladies of all ages and backgrounds. You are encouraged to form connections and don't forget when you are in a group setting and you’d like to catch up with someone, be brave and give them your contact details, or just send them a meetup message afterwards and suggest something to go do together.

RULES:

  • NO SHOWS - We have a strict no show policy. A no show is when you say you are attending and then don’t show up and don’t communicate a valid reason to the host of the event regarding your absence. Unfortunately, "I forgot" is not a valid excuse as we are all grownups with busy lives. Members will be removed from the group after two instances of a no show. This includes people who give less than 18 hours' notice (except in the case of an emergency).
  • Please turn on your Meetup® app notification settings for any event information or late advice about event changes.
  • This group has a Zero Bullying and Discrimination Policy.

Tips for getting the most out of The Social Club for Excellent Lady Types (and making friends):

  • BE ACTIVE - The more events you go to and the more frequently you see the same ladies, the more chance you’ll have of making a genuine connection.
  • BE RESPECTFUL - Be polite, inquisitive (but not prying) and encourage everyone to contribute to the conversation. It's likely that everyone else is just as nervous about meeting new people as you are (if not more) so be gentle and kind.
  • BE RELIABLE - Don’t leave ladies waiting and wondering if you are going to show up or stand the group up. Message the group if you’re running late and we can let you know where we are when you arrive. If you RSVP to an event – show up. No one likes being stood up. If you cannot attend, please try to give 48 hours' notice – just like you would with family or friends. This is also respectful to our venues. If you give less than 18 hours' notice you will be marked as a no-show.
  • BE PROACTIVE - If you have suggestions for events or would like to try hosting, let the Leadership Team know. This group is about fostering a community of connected women. We all lead busy lives and are limited in the number of events we can host, the more hosts we have the more chances for members to make friends.
  • BE YOURSELF - Recognise that you are wonderfully unique and have something to contribute to the group. Variety is the spice of life. So let go and have a laugh. Show enthusiasm. Be brave.
  • BE SUPPORTIVE - If you have a wonderful time at an event, let the host and the group know by posting a message on the event page. Share your photos. Encourage positivity and watch how friendships grow.

Please provide us with any feedback about events and feel free to post photos to the group. If you’d like to become an event organiser, please let Tif know and she can answer all your questions and explain what is required. We only request you have attended at least two events as a guest before becoming a host.

Suggestions for activities are welcomed! (But please understand that our leadership team may have limited time and ability to organise events).

Enjoy your time with the group. We look forward to meeting you! Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Oh, and remember – don’t wait – there will never be a perfect time, so get out and attend an event soon! :)
