MEETUP POINT: 18067 Mississauga Rd, Alton
43°48'48.0"N80º01'44.2"W
The Elora Cataract Trail is a perfect blend of a hike that is flat yet hilly, beautiful landscapes with a little rugged terrain thrown in and a river for a great spot to have lunch, along with a rapidly flowing damn!
It is incredibly peacefull and you won't find a lot of hikers on this trail. One or two bikers use the trail but probably not at this time of year. We will definitely be the largest group.
The trail is narrow so it is important to walk in a single file else you will be walking in the brush.
We have the option of doing 11-15km which we will decide based on the number of participants and weather conditions. Because it is a narrow trail, please do not sign up if you don't intend to go. We want everyone who wants a great winter hike to be able to jump in - numbers will be capped because of the trail size.
Come with plenty of water, lunch and proper footwear is a must which means icers need to be included. They are reasonable at $15. from any sporting goods store, amazon, or Costco.
Parking is free along the side of the road if you access it from the Alton trail point.
