Horsetail Falls to Ropi Lake

Hey everyone,
Yes I know this is an early start. But the parking lot up there tends to fill up quickly.
Horsetail Falls is a moderate to strenuous hike depending on your level. There is a short stretch of rock scrambling that gives some people the willies (it's fine though, I've done it many times) and a good amount of rock hopping after that. There is a lot of elevation gain in a short stretch. Normally I do this to Ropi Lake, which is the 5.5 miles (round trip). I'd like to try to make it to Toem Lake too, which will add about another half a mile. I've tried the last couple of times to make it there but either time or weather turned us around. If some don't want to go all the way, there are plenty of beautiful places to stop and relax until the rest of the group comes back. Ropi Lake is probably one of the most beautiful spots in Desolation. Vertical gain is about 1,600 feet (not including Toem). Alltrails hits Ropi at about 5.5 miles out and back. You do need to be in shape for this hike. SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING (Copied and pasted from from Allan Weisman's meetups...): Cotton not recommended. Two liters water minimum, light rain shell or fleece jacket for warmth, sturdy shoes or boots, sunhat, sunscreen and lip-balm, lunch, whistle, hiking poles, and mosquito repellent.
Please don't ask when we're going to be back. It all depends on how fast or slow we want to go. It's very much a stop and smell the roses pace. This will be a casual pace and we will stay together if possible. If you sign up show up. NO SHOWS AND LATE CANCELLATIONS ARE NOT OKAY. There is a limit in Desolation of 12 people per group. When someone no shows it means someone on the waitlist, if there is one, didn't get to go. If the waitlist gets big I may message for confirmation, so please keep an eye out.
Note. If you plan on being a passenger in a car, two things. Bring separate shoes to wear in the car, and a bag to put your hiking boot/shoes in. And bring cash for your driver. Not everyone uses electronic payments.
