SUMMARY
On this hike in the Sierras and Tahoe National Forest, will hike the Spaulding Lake Trail from Bowman Lake Rd to Fordyce Creek Falls, then back for about 8 miles with an overall or cumulative elevation gain of about 1,100 feet.

MEETING TIMES AND PLACES
For carpooling, meet 8:00am at a park and ride lot next Shell gas station on Taylor Rd in Roseville. Address is 1821 Taylor Rd, Roseville, CA 95661.
For those meeting directly at trailhead, meet 9:30am at Spaulding Lake/Fuller Lake Dam Trailhead on Bowman Lake Rd next to Fuller Lake, and one of the Google GPS coordinates for locating the trailhead is 39.344752,-120.651601.
Driving directions to the trailhead from Roseville and Sacramento:

  1. Head eastbound on I 80 toward Reno.
  2. Take Exit 161 for CA HWY 20 toward Grass Valley/Nevada City.
  3. Continue west on CA 20 for 4.4 miles.
  4. Turn rigth onto Bowman Lake Rd and continue north for about 3.5 miles and destination will be to the rigth. Look for possible signs of Fuller Lake and Spaulding Trail to your rigth.

HIKING LEVEL: Moderate to hard due to some hills and high altitude.
DISTANCE: About 8 miles
ELEVATION: About 1,100 feet overall or comulative, which up (and down) many hills combined.
