Wandering Wednesdays - Thunder Mountain Summit Hike

Details

Wandering Wednesdays is heading to Thunder Mountain in the El Dorado National Forest.
Lets get out of town and trade the mid 90's in Sac area for the mid 70's in the Sierra's! Currently the forecast shows a high of 75° and sunny.

This is NOT a beginner hike! We will hike about 8 miles with an elevation gain of over 1,800'. Please know your abilities and understand the difficulties of this hike before signing up for it.

We will not be in a hurry but will hike at a steady pace and take breaks as needed and to enjoy the views and scenery! We'll have views of Silver Lake and the surrounding mountains and hiking on the back side of Kirkwood Ski Resort! Expect to see some burn scare from the Caldor Fire a few years ago.
Here is the AllTrails Hike Link: This is an out & back hike! https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/thunder-mountain-summit?u=i&sh=hnvpqh

Things to bring:
Weather appropriate layered cloths for the High Sierra's as we never know when the weather may change, hiking footwear, plenty of water and electrolytes and energy snacks, lunch, sun screen, mosquito repellent and a positive and adventurous attitude!

Please RSVP if you are interested. PLEASE DO NOT BE A NO SHOW!
If you are sick or have been near anybody who is sick please do not attend this hike. Keep everybody safe!

Carpools pay your driver the equivalent of a gallon of gas per hour driving time. Approx 3 hours so $12 to $15 should be good.

Wandering Wednesdays may alter hikes each week but will default to the Lake Natoma Bluffs unless otherwise posted. If you are a regular be sure to confirm the hike meeting location and time weekly. We welcome and encourage beginners on many hikes but be aware of your hiking speed and abilities for 20 to 25 minute mile. Some hikes are not for beginners!

We follow the "Leave no trace only footprints" policy.

Call Jeff K at 916-806-4977 if you have any questions. Happy Trails!!!
