Please note: We will meet at 11 & P at 6:50 and will depart by 7:00. Carpool will be arranged here unless you already have your own. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring layers as the coast is always known to have a different (cooler) weather than Sac. Please arrive on time.
Via Kelham: 4.8 miles each way.
The fastest path to Kelham Beach is via the BVT starting at the trailhead. Hike 4 miles on BV turn right onto Coast Trail for .5 miles. Hike another .3 miles to Kelham Beach on the left.
The Kelham Beach marker is off the trail and not easy to spot. As you are nearing Kehlam trail, you will cross two bridges on the Coast Trail and the best landdmark is a huge eucalyptus tree. Look for the path behind the trees with the beach trail marker in the distance.
The hike mostly flat with gradual elevation changes. Bear Valley is predominantly shaded and the Coast Trail is full exposed. It is about two hour hike each way at the very least.
Expect cool, refreshing coastal weather—usually much chillier than Sacramento—so bring layers, including a windbreaker, sunscreen and water and wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your own lunch and snacks, water and $$ for your driver. Keep an open mind for lunch time as we will find the most inviting place to park and enjoy.
