Wandering Wednesday - 6.5 Mile Bannister Park, River Walk to Clay Banks

It's been nearly a year since we've done this hike. Come join Wandering Wednesday this week at Bannister Park. We'll walk to Clay Banks and do a loop back to Bannister Park. Approx 6.5 mile flat walk.

The weather is forecast to be 81° by noon so lets get out a little earlier and start hiking at 8:30 am.

We will head down the bike path to the first dirt turn to the right. We'll follow the main path, maybe do an out & back to San Juan Rapids. The water should be low so we may be able to walk on the exposed clay. We'll then continue past Bannister Pond throughout the wilderness area along the river to Sacramento Bar parking area. A restroom stop if needed. We'll cross the river at Jim's Bridge and head down river for a few miles to the Clay Banks before turning around and taking loop trails back to Banister Park.

Things to bring; plenty of water, comfortable shoes, appropriate clothes for the weather, a snack and an adventurist attitude. The ground may be slippery at the rapids so grippy shoes is suggested.

This hike will be about 2.5+ hours. We will be walking at a steady pace. (about 2.5 to 3 MPH).

We follow the "Leave no trace only footprints" policy.

We will meet at Banister Park parking lot. If the lot is full, there is some parking on the street but be aware and read the street signs.

Continued rain will cancel. I will still be hiking if light rain.
