WW - Lake Natoma Bluffs, Mississippi Bar Pond & Fallen Eagles Nest 7 Mile Hike
Details
Hey all, it's sad to hear the Eagles Nest tree has fallen! Come join
Wandering Wednesdays as we head North this week to see, or not to see, the fallen tree. Nevertheless it's been reported the Eagles have been seen so maybe we can spot where they may build their new home. Hopefully close by and as viewable as they have been for years. If we don't spot them we'll still get a good hike on.
The weather forecast is cloudy and in the 50's. Lets take a beautiful walk along side the ponds, through Mississippi Bar, climb the bluff overlooking the lake and spy on the Fallen Eagles Nest area then on to Black Minors Bar for a restroom stop.
We'll do an estimated 7 mile figure-8 loop hike. We'll loop back on the bike path for a bit or climb back up the bluffs before returning to the our cars.
We will park at the usual spot at Sunset and Main. If that is full you can park in the Snowberry Creek Assembly Area aka Shadow Glen Riding Stables parking lot. From Sunset, turn left on Main then right into the first driveway marked Shadow Glen Riding Stables. Once you turn in make another right into the gated lot. Exit your car and walk the trail to the corner of Sunset and Main where some of us will also be parked. We will meet at the closed gate at the end of Main.
More info below.
Please RSVP if you are interested. PLEASE DO NOT BE A NO SHOW! We will meet at the end of Sunset Ave at Main Ave in Fair Oaks at 9:00 am. We will start the hike at 9:05 am.
WELL BEHAVED Dogs are welcome. Please clean up after them on the trail.
Things to bring; comfortable shoes, plenty of water, appropriate clothes for the weather. This hike should be no more than three hours depending on how fast we all walk. We leave no one behind but expect to walk 20-25 minute miles. A fast walker can do it in 90-100 minutes or less.
We follow the "Leave no trace only footprints" policy.
Wandering Wednesdays may alter hikes each week but will default to the Lake Natoma Bluffs unless otherwise posted. If you are a regular be sure to confirm the hike location weekly. We welcome and encourage beginners but be prepared to walk 20-25 minute miles.
Call Jeff K at 916-806-4977 if you have any questions. Happy Trails!!!
