SUMMARY
On this snowshoe hike in the high Sierras, Tahoe Meadows, and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest near Mount Rose Summit, we will snowshoe to and from Chickadee Ridge for about 3 miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of about 300 feet while taking in the views of Lake Tahoe and feeding the small birds with seeds on Chickadee Ridge.

MEETING TIMES AND PLACES
For carpooling, meet 7:00am at Sunsplash park and ride next to Shell Gas Station on Taylor Rd in Roseville, and the address is 1821 Taylor Rd, Roseville, CA 95661. Please pay carpool driver the current price of gas per gallon per hour.
For those meeting directly at the trailhead, meet 9:15am near Tahoe Meadows Ophir Creek Trailhead along the side of Nevada HWY 431, and one of gps coordinators for locating the trailhead is 39.301833,-119.918881. And there are plowed roadside parking on both sides of NV HWY 431.

SNOWSHOE INFORMATION AND ESSENTIALS
DIFFICULTY: Moderate due to some hills and high altitude.
DISTANCE: About 3 miles.

ELEVATION: About 300 feet in elevation gain.

ESSENTIALS: Bring snowshoes, ski poles, waterproof jecket and pants/gaiters, waterproof boots, warm layed clothing made out of wool or polypro (no cotton), sun protection gear ( sunglasses, hat, etc), lots of water, snacks/small lunch, electrolytes, personal first aid kit, plastic, optional sunflower seeds to feed the birds, cell phone for emergencies, and a map/compass or AllTrails/Gaia apps to help stay on or parallel trails buried in snow if needed.
