DONNER PEAK Easy & FuN snowshoe !

My 1st week back from a day marathon hike. Looking forward to enjoy a fun easy hike with good vibe people :) Let go to Donner Peak.
It is easy-to-moderately snowshoe hike. This peak offers lovely views of Donner Lake, Mt Judah Ridge, and Castle Peak from the summit!
Total round trip distance is approximately 4 miles with 900 feet of elevation gain/loss. This is an out-and-back hike that follows no trail; just snow tracks. A great starter hike to those new to snowshoeing; and a short and sweet hike for seasoned pros. Its all about feeling the crisp cool air and trodding on soft, flaky snow.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bring snowcap, winter gloves, snowshoes (microspikes wont cut it as the snow is deep); plenty of water (3 liters), HIKING POLES (necessary), suncreen, snacks, and lunch. Winter thermal Hiking Boots and warm layers are absolutely essential; Headlamps are optional.
FAILURE TO HEED GEAR/EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS OR NOT FOLLOW THE LEADERS DIRECTIONS COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY TO THE HIKER.
OTHER DETAILS:
Snow showers and / or strong winds, or the requirement for vehicles to use chains may necessitate cancelling or postponing the event. I will post anticipated weather 48 hours before the event. You are responsible for reading/responding to updates posted on Meetup. Lastly, the pace of the hike will be moderate.
Carpools will be formed at the Meetup location. Kindly reimburse your drivers at the rate of $5 per hour of drive time.

- Head southeast toward Taylor Rd
- Turn left toward Taylor Rd
- Turn right onto Taylor Rd
- Turn right onto Atlantic St
- Use the right 2 lanes to turn slightly right onto the Interstate 80 E ramp to Reno
- Merge onto I-80 E
- Take exit 174 toward Soda Springs/Norden
- Turn right onto Donner Pass Rd
- Turn right
- Arrive at location: Summit Haus
