SUMMARY
On this out and back snowshoe hike in the High Sierras, El Dorado National Forest, Mokelumne Wilderness, and Carson Pass Area, we will snowshoe to and from Winnemucca Lake for about 5 miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of about 500 feet.

MEETING TIMES AND PLACES
For carpooling, meet 7:30am at Iron Point Park & Ride Lot next to ligth rail station and below a vacant building (formerly McDonald's ) in Folsom, and address is 150 Iron Point Rd, Folsom, CA 95630. Please pay carpool driver the current price of gas per gallon.

For those meeting directly at the trailhead, meet 10:15am at Carson Pass Sno-Park parking lot on CA HWY 88, and one of Google GPS coordinators for locating the sno-park is 38.695129,-119.989430.

SNOWSHOE HIKE INFORMATION AND ESSENTIALS
DIFFUCLTY: Moderate due to hills and high altitude.

DISTANCE: About 5 miles.

ELEVATION: About 500 feet in elevation gain.

ROUTE: Start at Carson Pass Sno-Park, then snowshoe south uphill on the Pacific Crest Trail for about 1 and 1/4 of miles, then keep to the right and snowshoe on Lake Winnemucca Trail 18E13 for about 1 and 1/4 of mile to Lake Winnemucca, then visit and have lunch at Lake Winnemucca for about 30 minutes, then turn around and snowshoe north on or parallel the Carson Pass to Lake Winnemucca Trail 18E13 for about 1 and 1/4 of a mile, then keep to the left and snowshoe north downhill on the Pacific Crest Trail for about 1 and 1/4 of a mile back to Carson Pass Sno-Park. You can use AllTrails/Gaia apps to help locate, stay on, and parallel trails buried in snow if needed.

ESSENTIALS: Bring snowshoes, ski poles, waterproof jecket and pants/gaiters, waterproof boots, warm layed clothing made out of wool or polypro (no cotton), sun protection gear ( sunglasses, hat, etc), lots of water, snacks/small lunch, electrolytes, personal first aid kit, plastic bags to put your trash in if needed, cell phone for emergencies,a map/compass or AllTrails/Gaia apps to help stay on or parallel trails buried in snow if needed, and unsalted sunflower seeds too feed the chickadee small birds if want to.
