We will start our evening through forest and then more open areas later.
Trailhead can be tricky to find. It is large gravel parking lot about 1/2 mile north of Salmon Falls bridge over the South Fork of the American river. If coming through El Dorado Hills, trailhead is sharp right 1/2 mile past river. If coming through Pilot Hill, trailhead is on left 1/2 mile before river.

Bring plenty of water, headlamp or flashlight, and a light jacket. There may warm temperatures at start of hike; the evening temperature may drop.
There is poison oak along the trail; however, it is pretty wide to accommodate mountain bikes. Bikes and horses can use these trails, but usually very few on weekdays.
Portapotty at trailhead and restrooms at skunk Hollow trailhead (~ 2.7 miles in).
Dogs on lead are allowed. Be aware that there may be cattle on part of this route.
