Tote Bag Making class #2- Basic Sewing 101

We had so much fun we're doing it again. Join us for another beginning sewing class. This sewing classes is designed to get you inspired to sew, become more familiar with your sewing machine and send you on your way to sewing your own clothes. Now isn't that what we all want??

to get yourself comfortable with the sewing machine. Learn how to cut according to a pattern, sew straight seams, get creative with your design and walk away with a finished product. All this in a 3 hour class.

Fabric and some supplies will be provided however feel free to bring your own fabric. (suggested fabrics lightweight denim, broadcloth, lightweight cottons or corduroy. (please see the list below for additional supplies you will need to bring for this class)

Also feel free to bring embellishments such as buttons, sequins, patches, trims, laces,, tassels etc. Anything that you can use to make your bag unique I encourage you to bring.

Supplies needed:

Bring at least two yards of lightweight fabric (contrasting colors). Examples: lightweight denim, linen, cotton, broadcloth etc.

(There will be some fabrics and additional supplies available in class.)

A working sewing machine - Please have your machines serviced before bringing them to class if they have been out of commission for some time

(be sure to bring your foot petal and manual if you have it handy)

Presser feet for your machine

Extra sewing needles

Sewing shears

Paper scissors

Seam ripper (this will be your best friend :-)

Tracing wheel/tracing paper or chalk (whichever you prefer)

Thread (various colors)

Ruler

Tape Measure

Pin cushion

Straight pins with the ball on top (these are easier to sew with)

Bobbins (make sure they fit your machine)

A sewing box or carrying case to keep all your supplies

Patience and a sense of humor :-)

Classes and Meetups will only be confirmed and booked at the location after at least 6 people have RSVP'd. If registration drops below 5 the class or meetup is subject to be canceled. Please check back periodically.
