The Shared Walk: Morning Light & Shadows — Photography Practice at Tod’s Point
Details
This early morning Shared Walk is about meeting the day quietly, with a camera in hand, before the park and the weekend fully wake up.
We’ll gather at 7:00am on Saturday, January 17th, in the first parking lot on the right as you drive into Tod’s Point. Sunrise is at 7:14am, and we’ll be on the beach as the sun comes up over the water.
This practice focuses on early-morning phenomena: low, directional light, long shadows, subtle color shifts, reflections, and movement. Birds are often most active at this hour, and it’s not unusual to spot deer, foxes, or even a coyote passing through the park before the crowds arrive.
Everyone follows the same route together, moving slowly and stopping often. Each participant receives a simple creative prompt to guide what they pay attention to. The intention is not to chase moments, but to notice how light and atmosphere shape the scene.
This is not a workshop or critique group. There is no competition and no pressure to perform. All cameras are welcome, including phones. Sharing images is always optional.
Please dress very warm — it will feel colder near the water, especially early in the morning.
We’ll walk for about two hours, breathing fresh air, watching the light change, and starting the weekend in a calm, focused way.
