Studio Practice: Self-Portraits with Light & Pose
Details
This studio meetup is a hands-on practice focused on creating your own portrait using your own phone or camera.
Each participant will set up their camera on a tripod (studio provided) and use a timer to photograph themselves. We’ll work one at a time through a simple, relaxed process, practicing basic poses and small adjustments that make a big difference in how a portrait feels.
The studio will be set up with a classic backdrop and continuous portrait lighting, including a key light and rim light. This allows everyone to clearly see how light shapes the face and body in real time, without the pressure or complexity of flash.
This is not a performance or critique session. It’s a chance to experiment, get comfortable in front of the camera, and better understand light and pose from both sides of the lens. Guidance will be available as needed, but the focus is on practice and exploration.
All cameras are welcome, including phones. No prior portrait experience is required.
The studio is spacious and comfortable, with ample parking and bathrooms in the building. Expect a calm pace, supportive atmosphere, and time to try a few variations of your own portrait.
