Lyndhurst Mansion Grounds & Hudson River Photo Walk
Join us for a summer morning exploring the grounds of Lyndhurst, one of the Hudson Valley's most remarkable historic estates.
Lyndhurst is a Gothic Revival mansion overlooking the Hudson River in Tarrytown, NY. The 67-acre estate features landscaped gardens, specimen trees, historic buildings, sweeping lawns, and river views connected by walking paths and the Westchester RiverWalk. The grounds are considered one of the finest surviving examples of 19th-century American landscape design.
Our focus will be on photographing the outdoor portions of the estate: gardens, architectural details, historic structures, scenic river views, and whatever summer surprises we discover along the way. The grounds offer opportunities for landscape photography, architectural studies, nature details, and abstracts.
Important: Advance Ticket Required
Each participant must purchase a 2026 Grounds Pass in advance using the following link:
https://lyndhurst.org/events/daily-grounds-pass/
The Grounds Pass costs $11.25 online, is date-specific, and allows entry to the grounds between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM. The estate grounds remain open until 5:00 PM.
Please purchase your ticket before the event, as availability may be limited.
This walk will take place rain or shine. Summer weather can change quickly along the Hudson, so dress appropriately and consider bringing water, comfortable walking shoes, and protection for yourself and your camera if rain is in the forecast.
As always, photographers of all experience levels are welcome. Whether you bring a dedicated camera or a phone, the goal is to enjoy the morning, practice seeing, and spend time with fellow photographers in a beautiful setting.
We will meet inside the grounds at the Welcome Center shortly after entry and begin our walk together at 9:45 AM.
