THE SPEAKERS:
Chris Grice - Head of Engineering at Street Group: ‘Building with Trust - Psychological Safety in Dev Teams’
Psychological safety is a term that gets thrown around a lot, but how does it impact your team, and what can you do about it? This talk will dive into the concept in a bit more detail - where did it originate, how do you recognise it, what are the effects on your teams, and how do you go about improving it?
This talk is designed for developers, managers, and anyone interested in fostering high-performing, inclusive teams within the tech industry. Ideally, you’ll come away with some actions you can take to measure and improve the level of trust in your teams.
Toli Apostolidis - Head of Engineering Practice at Cinch: ‘A Culture of Observing: How to get a better understanding across the organisation through observability’
For years testable systems have helped us amplify flow, feedback, learning and experimentation. However, this still doesn’t enhance our understanding of the health of our business transactions in production. Observability is the missing piece of the puzzle that will finally shift our attention right: to understand the systems that matter. Software systems are becoming increasingly more observable by the people who build the systems themselves. Observable systems democratise the understanding of systems where Analytics and Data have fallen short.
Steve Atkinson - Senior Software Engineer at Clock: ‘Building and testing with TypeScript’
Unit testing codes help to build up documentation on the expected behavior of code. It also helps to break down functionality into bitesize chunks that are easy to understand. This talk aims to show you how Steve builds a suite of tests using TypeScript and the Jest testing framework, and how it helps to influence how codes are written.
