Yoga Basics for Real Bodies
Details
This is a beginner yoga class, where we will focus on the basics of common seated and standing poses (asanas)--how to create a safe and firm foundation in your body, how to be correctly aligned to best prevent injury, how to and gradually learn to LISTEN to YOUR body and breath in order to deepen these poses more intuitively based upon YOUR unique body and physical history (injuries, vertebral health, health conditions, etc…) We will also learn basic breathing techniques used in a Yoga practice and the basics of how to begin being still for a few moments in order to connect with your higher self.
Classes last approximately 60 minutes (5:30-6:30 PM) and will include some handouts on basic poses and breathing techniques plus there will be time set aside for hands-on adjustments and question and answers. This is a perfect class for beginners who have never taken yoga, those participants with limitations due to surgeries and/or chronic health conditions who are looking to ease back into a new physical practice for themselves, and other individuals who feel a bit self conscious about going to the gym or a large studio to practice.
Your first class at The Soul Source is Free. After your first class, drop-in rates are $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for FT Students or you can purchase a punch card with 4, 8 or 12 punches for $36.00, $69.00 or $102.00.
You will need to complete a registration and release form before beginning the class so come a few minutes before class or email me for a form. If you are just fresh from surgery or have a chronic health condition, we may also need a general medical release from your treating physician.
