Our second Meetup is planned for Thursday the 11th of December! This time around we have more space and more speakers (but the same amount of presentations as last time; you do the math...). We are meeting at the familiar ground of OK!Thess and the schedule is the following:

Talks 🎙️
First, we have not one but two Dimitris, Dimitris Lambrianidis and Dimitris Zaras from M2A Media, and they will introduce us to the world of Serverless computing. Serverless isn't just about writing functions; it's about composing powerful, reliable workflows. In this session, they will dive beyond basic Lambda calls and show us how to truly orchestrate complex business logic using the AWS serverless ecosystem.
Here is what they will cover:
• Orchestration: Why and when to use AWS Step Functions to manage state and complex branching logic.
• The Serverless Toolkit: Deep-dive into integrating core services: Lambda (compute), EventBridge (decoupling), DynamoDB (state), and S3 (data archival).
There will also be a live demo to spice things up 🌶️🌶️.
Next is Maria Tzanidaki from Mondelēz, who will showcase how a modern engineering team uses Terraform in a real-world environment to manage cloud infrastructure with security, speed, and consistency, leveraging GitHub, Spacelift, and a structured library of Terraform modules. The talk will cover how the team organizes its Infrastructure as Code codebase, automates Terraform plans, applies CI/CD, and applies best practices around state management, security, naming conventions, and modular design.
We are then going to catch up with some beer, accompanied by delicious snacks courtesy of Mondelēz!
