Join an extraordinary winter expedition into the heart of northern Mongolia. This once-in-a-lifetime journey takes us across the frozen surface of Lake Khuvsgul, one of the world’s most pristine lakes, trekking nearly 90 kilometers across ice while exploring remote landscapes few travelers ever reach.
Along the way, we will experience Mongolia’s raw winter wilderness, ride traditional horse-drawn sleighs across the frozen lake, camp on a remote island in the middle of the ice, and visit the Dukha reindeer herders in the remote Taiga forests.
This is a true expedition designed for adventurers seeking authentic cultural encounters and breathtaking winter landscapes.

Adventure Overview
Day 1–2 – Ulaanbaatar
Arrival in Mongolia’s capital followed by a city tour including Sukhbaatar Square and the National Museum.
Day 3 – Journey to Murun
Travel through icy roads and rolling landscapes to Murun, gateway to the Khuvsgul region.
Day 4–7 – Lake Khuvsgul Expedition
The adventure begins with a horse-drawn sleigh ride across the frozen lake before starting our multi-day winter trek.
Highlights include:
• Hiking across mirror-like ice fields
• Trekking to Khirvesteg Bay
• Crossing to Modon Khui Island where we camp overnight
• Continuing to Jiglegiin Davaa with stunning frozen landscapes
Day 8–9 – Taiga & Reindeer Herders
Travel to the Zuun Taiga Mountains to meet the Dukha people, one of Mongolia’s most unique indigenous communities. Ride reindeer and explore the forested taiga landscape.
Day 10–12 – Return Journey
Return to Murun, travel to Erdenet, and board a scenic train back to Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy a farewell dinner and free time in the capital.
