Let's visit one of DC's enduring dining institutions. We are heading to Le Diplomate in Logan Circle, Stephen Starr's celebrated Parisian-style brasserie that has remained one of the city's most sought-after reservations for more than a decade. While many restaurants come and go, Le Diplomate continues to earn praise for consistently executing classic French cuisine in an atmosphere that feels like a neighborhood bistro in Paris.

→ Plan to arrive early. The restaurant requires the full party before seating. Once seated, the table begins a two-hour dining window. If you expect to run late, plan accordingly.

FOOD: Le Diplomate specializes in timeless French bistro fare prepared with consistently high execution. Recent diners continue to rave about the Onion Soup Gratinée, Steak Frites, Escargots, Moules Marinières, the restaurant's signature Burger Américain, and its beautifully prepared seafood platters. Fresh bread baked daily has become one of the restaurant's signatures, and many guests consider it a highlight before the meal even begins. Those saving room for dessert frequently recommend the profiteroles and Baba au Armagnac. Sunday's "Plate of the Day" is Duck Confit, and it's a good version in DC.

The cocktail program and French wine list are equally well regarded, making Le Diplomate a destination whether you're looking for a traditional multi-course French dinner or a lighter meal centered around seafood, salads, or steak frites.

-> SPENDING EXPECTATIONS <-
Most members should expect to spend between $65 and $110 for dinner and drinks after DC tax and tip, depending on ordering style and alcohol.

SPACE: Le Diplomate recreates the feel of a classic Parisian brasserie with mosaic tile floors, brass accents, large mirrors, bustling servers, and an energetic dining room. Expect a lively atmosphere, moderate to higher noise levels during peak dinner hours, and a vibrant Sunday evening crowd. Despite its popularity, reviewers consistently praise the restaurant's professional service and ability to handle larger reservations efficiently.
