What we’re about

We are a group of friends that have met through hiking.

We meet socially, once a month, on a Sunday for a 10-12km/3 hour hike. Locations vary around Northumberland, and are often in the local and surrounding National Parks or other beautiful locations.

We walk at a sociable pace, so we can chat, and we always finish at a pub, which is optional - for a drink/cuppa/snack etc.

We start walking at 10am, every time - so please arrive just before.

And we walk come rain or shine - so you can turn up and know we will be there. (If the weather is horrific, we may tweak the route, to make it more enjoyable, and then get to the pub sooner to warm up!)

You should be able to walk at a sociable/relaxed/steady pace for 3 hours on footpaths/trails/uneven terrain, and have clothing and kit appropriate for the weather.

Please wear/bring suitable hiking footwear, rucksack, waterproofs, and clothing appropriate for the weather - hat, gloves etc. Also bring a snack, hot/cold drink.

Well behaved humans and dogs are welcome - but please only bring a dog that can behave both on and off the lead, and get on with other dogs/people. This is for the enjoyment of other dogs and group members.

We are a very welcome, sociable group. You can see our events and dates on facebook and instagram @thewildnorthumberland

We are outdoor enthusiasts and really enjoy hiking. This is a grown up (for all ages), friendly and welcoming group, for good conversation and good hiking routes.

These are not organised walks - just a group of likeminded outdoor-enthusiasts, taking a sociable hike together - therefore you join in at your own risk.

If you are new to just turning up to things like this, fear not. We are very friendly, and we understand that everyone goes through hard times, or moves to a new place, or wants to start a new hobby or make new starts in life. So come along, and just enjoy the scenery and feel good feeling of being outside.
