Making new friends as an adult can be awkward. Walking makes it a little easier.
The Zero Proof Social’s Speed Friending Walk is a structured social experience designed to help you meet a lot of new people without the pressure of working a room, figuring out who to approach, or making endless small talk with the same person.
We’ll take a walk along Northaven Trail, pairing up for one-on-one conversations and rotating partners throughout the route. You’ll meet a variety of people, get some movement and fresh air, and hopefully leave knowing a few more friendly faces in Dallas.
Come open to conversation. There’s no pressure to find your new best friend. Sometimes connection starts simply by meeting someone new.

Optional After-Party
At the end of the walk, the fun doesn't have to end! We encourage you to keep connecting with the people you meet. Repeated interaction and spending more time together can make it easier for new connections to grow into friendships.
You’re welcome to make plans in advance through the event comments or chat, or you can decide spontaneously after the walk to continue spending time together.
Ralph + Rose is within walking distance of the trail, and there are other options just a short drive away. Please keep any plans immediately following this event alcohol-free and choose locations that remain inclusive of other members.

Why are we walking and talking?

  • Walking side by side creates a natural and comfortable environment for conversation. It eliminates the pressure of face-to-face interactions, making it easier to open up and share.
  • Being outdoors and on the move introduces a subtle distraction, making pauses in conversation less noticeable. This can alleviate the pressure to fill every silence, allowing for more organic and relaxed interactions.
  • Traditional sit-down settings can sometimes feel formal and interview-like. Walking creates a more laid-back atmosphere, promoting a casual and authentic exchange of thoughts and stories.

First time here? Here's what you need to know for this event!
Physical Energy: Moderate — We'll be walking (2-3 miles) for much of the event at a comfortable social pace.
💬 Social Interaction: High — You'll have several one-on-one conversations and regularly rotate to meet someone new.
🌱 Social Pressure: Low–Moderate — You won't need to approach strangers or figure out who to talk to on your own. While the rotations provide structure, you should come prepared to actively participate in one-on-one conversations.

Please be on Time

  • This is a structured, moving event rather than a drop-in social.
  • Please arrive by 11:50 AM to park, find the group, check in, and get settled. At 12:00 PM, my phone will go on Do Not Disturb so I can shift my attention to facilitating the event. The walk will start promptly at 12:15 PM. Once the group leaves the meeting point, we won’t be able to coordinate individual arrivals or help latecomers locate the group. If you need help with directions or logistics, please reach out before then.
  • Because rotations depend on the group moving through the experience together, this event is also best for people who can participate for the full structured walk. If you already know you’ll need to arrive late or leave early, please join us for a future event that better fits your schedule.

Who can attend?
This is an adult social group, and this specific event is designed around one-on-one interactions between participants. Please keep the following in mind when making plans to attend:

  • Children under 14 may not attend.
  • Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Because this event involves one-on-one conversations with other adults, please do not bring a minor unless you are comfortable with them participating in those interactions without you directly supervising each conversation. If you are not comfortable with that, I do not advise bringing your child to this event.
  • Please leave pets at home. Service animals are always welcome.

These guidelines help us keep the event focused on the structured social experience and make it easier for everyone to move through the partner rotations together.

Ground Rules

  • This is a purely PLATONIC event. We’re not here to ask anyone out on dates. If at ANY POINT anyone makes you feel uncomfortable, please let me know and I will ask them to leave.
  • Please be respectful and actively listen during conversations. I encourage you all to be open-minded and have a positive attitude toward meeting people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Certain questions or comments are best avoided unless your conversation partner willingly shares such information. It's advisable to steer clear of remarks about someone's appearance and inquiries into their relationship status or orientation, as these are private matters. Additionally, it's wise to refrain from discussing topics like politics, religion, personal health, or another person's sobriety. Let's keep the conversation light for now, and we can delve into more intense subjects later.

Safety Reminders

  • Please stay alert and be mindful of your surroundings while walking on the trail.
  • Follow pedestrian rules, stay on designated paths, and be aware of any potential obstacles.
  • Look both ways before crossing the trail or changing directions
  • Keep to the right side of the trail
  • “Stop” signs on the trail mean stop
  • Check traffic before entering street crosswalks
  • Cross major street intersections only when permitted by crossing lights

Privacy and Contact Details

  • Privacy is crucial to this activity; please be respectful of each other's boundaries.
  • Please recognize that exchanging contact details can sometimes be awkward. Feel free to share YOUR Instagram, phone number, or email if you'd like to stay in touch. However, avoid putting others on the spot by asking for their information directly. This way, everyone can choose the level of contact that feels comfortable for them. If you have physical business cards with your contact information you are welcome to hand them out to those individuals you connect with.
  • Everything is totally optional and consent based. Some people might only be here to simply have a new experience and chat with people. Don’t be disappointed if there’s no follow-up. If you do get someone’s details, respect their time and space.
  • Finally, please keep all conversations confidential. What's shared during the walk is personal, and unless explicitly agreed upon by both parties, it's important to keep those details private.

Parking and Meeting Point

  • There is parking located along Valleydale Drive between Northaven Road and N Central Expressway. I'm looking forward to embarking on this Speed Friending Walk with all of you! If you have any last-minute questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.
