Spend the weekend discovering the Tian Shan Glaciers

ITINERARY

Day 1:
Departing from Dubai at 9:40 pm. Arrival to Almaty and transfer to the hotel

Day 2:
After breakfast, we drive 40 min to Medeo where we'll take a cable car to Talgarsky Pass at 3164 m.

The adventure starts hiking to the top of Shymbulak Peak at 3450m, the best point to have majestic views of the massive glaciers and ice-covered peaks of the Northern Tien Shan. A good path starts at a pass and follows the ridge to the summit. There are no technical difficulties.

After lunch at the ski resort, we continued our journey by hiking through the Touyuk-Su Gorge. Our destination is the Trekking Club Alpine Lodge, perched at 2600m where we will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3:
After breakfast, we start on a hike to the Touyuk-Su glacier and back to the hut. We'll follow the ground track to the Manzhylki weather station at 3000m, and then to the Touyuk-Su glacier's moraine. Traverse the gentle slope between the moraine banks to reach the Molodezhny glacier, hosting the country's highest glaciological center.

From here, you'll be amazed by stunning views of fortress-like mountain peaks, including the Needles of Touyuk-Su. The trail then leads south along the boundary of ice-covered areas of Molodezhny Peak. Capture captivating views of ice-covered pyramids like Locomotive and Pogrebetsky peaks. At 3600 m, you'll see the mountain district's highest point – the Ordzhonikidze peak.

We arrive back in Almaty at 6 pm for leisure time, spend the night, and fly home very early morning (*see suggested flight)
