Details
Greetings Dear Thingsters,
Shorter notice than usual, but please do get this on your calendars! :-)
I have three confirmed speakers for next Wednesday at PSU.
Food sponsor also pending confirmation - yay!
Talk Previews:
Tom's magic box of tricks - Open Source Hardware for You
- Tom Moxon, Hardware Engineer Extraordinaire (I picked those words, not him - surj) -ThingSoC
Tom Moxon's thingSoC (https://www.hackster.io/thingsoc) is a low-cost, highly-flexible and vendor agnostic socket system for IoT product development. It consists of both open-source hardware and software supporting many different processor types, including as ARM, AVR, x86, ESP8266/ESP32, PSoC and others.
This batch of modules, dubbed “Grovey,” enables users to embed them directly into their products or to recycle those open-source designs within their own circuit boards for cost reduction in higher volumes. Come see them and get to ask Tom questions about how they get used.
IoT Jobs In Portland and PNW
- Jacob Muir, Aerotek Engineering Embedded Systems
We have had quite a few folk looking for work and also many companies looking for IoT talent. In this talk we cover the various roles in IoT that are in demand and what skills are suitable for cross training.
Tom's Shoes meets IoT Barbecues? Social responsibility with IoT, Portland style
-Benjamin West, Chairman, Ecozoom
This will be a two part talk - one part this month, the other next month from someone who created a socially responsible enterprise that led to fuel efficient stoves being in over 60% of Rwandan homes. He has a new venture to talk about and wants to engage the PDX IoT community. A true pleasure to host a truly talented tech/business rockstar to come and talk. And a great person to boot. Please help Thing PDX (and Ben) by coming to see him talk. Bring a friend.
Any food sponsorship offers welcome :-) Ping me.... thanks.
Sorry for any unintentional spam.
Surj.
