Is surrogacy fair to everyone, including the child? Are we turning bodies and babies into commodities? You can say we sell our own bodies in the form of physical labor, but can this be done with a new offspring?
Should a parent be allowed to simply sell their kid to someone else? Is your kid your property? Only difference with a surrogate is the sale is made before the baby develops in the womb.
Views on surrogacy vary between different religions and cultures. In underdeveloped countries surrogacy is a quick and easy path for women to rise above poverty. Here is a short, excellent documentary examining this:

How ethical is surrogacy when you take money out of the equation? Is it just a matter of exploitation that makes it controversial, or is there more to it than the commerce aspect?
The concept of surrogacy has been very fascinating to me, as I have been torn on how I feel about it and whether I should be for or against it. I currently lean strongly against it with this main thought: There are *some* valid reasons to permit surrogacy, but there are far more heavy implications, slippery slopes and unethical ways that it can be done, to a point where I believe it is not worth allowing it. Also on the topic of abortion, I believe it is a unique human life at the moment of conception, so the idea of fertilizing and freezing eggs for this use I find deeply immoral.

New Rule, Experimenting: When a hand is raised I will set a 2-Minute timer for turns.
