Is Your Purpose Discovered or Created? (online discussion)

Details

"Is Your Purpose Discovered or Created?" This is the core question in Existentialism. What does the process look like in identifying your sense of purpose and meaning? Do you 'discover' your purpose through deep reflection/meditation? Do you weigh the pro's and con's of potential purposes and cherry pick the attributes that are appealing to you?

If you create your own purpose, does this mean your purpose does not exist beyond you? If your purpose relates to how you interactive with the world around you, does that mean there needs to be something objectively grounding that cannot be self-manifested?

Is it liberating to abandon any sense of purpose that the world has tried imposing on you? Can other create their own meaning that you find abhorrent, but equally valid?

What are your thoughts? All views and backgrounds welcome! Come join us for a fun discussion. We'll lead with this topic but can venture off into any direction.

Rule of etiquette: The goal is to have a productive free-flowing discussion, while also giving everyone a fair chance to participate accordingly. If you have any trouble getting a word in, please use the "Raise Hand" feature. When a hand is raised I will set a 3:00 timer for turns. When no hands are up we continue with a free flow dialog with no timer. No one is obligated to speak if they do not want. Respect for others is a must (or at least please try haha). We're all human.

Hope you can join us!
