Very often we speak of Left vs Right issues, and almost all of us agree that “both sides” have their issues, or we all find ourselves personally deviating from this 2-Party paradigm one way or another. That is because ultimately we have more in common with each other than we do with political labels.

Our political views are simply the answers we think we need to make the best possible society. What we have in common is we all want what is best for our society. We may disagree on how to achieve it or what values take priority over other values, but that is all the more reason for us to come together, discuss our lower level differences, learn alternate perspectives and approach these matters from all angles.

When a horrific tragedy occurs, these should be moments of coming together, not getting worked up over our petty differences and just recognizing our sense of human decency.

There are good people on the Right, and good people on the Left. The Left and Right can and should be able to coincide with each other peacefully. Good and Evil on the other hand, are NOT meant to coincide. We must divide ourselves from evil, because we are not evil. There are evil actions, evil motives, evil thoughts. We are all guilty of evil at times, and unfortunately some people choose to make evil behavior their lifestyle, to the point of threatening the safety of others. These people have no place in this group and I am not referring to them. Regarding us in this group and the overwhelming, sane majority of this country, WE are not divided.

This group encourages diverse and controversial discourse and will never stop. We learn the most from those we disagree with most, and having these discussions while remaining respectful are the most refreshing and memorable interactions. Sometimes it gets heated, sometimes we get disrespectful and call each other names (don’t get me wrong I love every minute of it). But none of these conversations would be worth our time if there wasn’t at least something likeable about the person you’re talking with. We engage because we recognize that all of our opinions matter, because we all matter.

I love and appreciate everyone here and look forward to many more discussions. Cheers
