What we’re about

Thinking While Drinking Online (http://thinkingwhiledrinking.org/) is the online companion to the TWD groups that meet in person across the country.

Just like when we get together in person, TWD Online is for those interested in discussing topics that will exercise, stimulate and expand your mind - all while (optionally) enjoying a drink over Zoom.

For each event, the facilitators will come prepared with a handful of thought provoking questions and concepts on the topic at hand, we'll see what everyone has to say and go from there...

We are not suggesting that life's difficult and fascinating questions will be neatly answered during our meetups nor that any sort of professional therapy or dogma will take place. This is just a space to meet other curious, sociable and open-minded people in an atmosphere of exploration and enjoyment.

Last but not least, our group is run entirely by volunteers and your donations go a long way to keep us afloat. Help support us by contributing to our Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/thinkingwhiledrinking).

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you at an upcoming online event!

Suggested viewing before we meet (5 min video): Why Main Character Syndrome Is TOXIC

    • Is Main Character Syndrome (MCS) really just being insecure and thinking people care about you more than they actually do?
    • What are some negative consequences of constantly believing all eyes are on you?
    • Does the realization that everyone is suffering from MCS, so nobody is paying attention to you alleviate your own sense of being constantly watched?
    • What is the line between having a healthy sense of self-worth and ownership over your life versus developing a toxic Main Character Syndrome?

    Let's think about it!

    About TWD Online events:

    1. Zoom event starts at 3pm pacific
    2. From 3p-3:30p, members join the main Zoom room to mingle, watch the video again, grab a beverage and settle in
    3. At 3:30pm, the hosts create Zoom breakout rooms where groups of 6-10 members join to have a more in-depth conversation about the topic
    4. Between 5 and 5:30, the hosts decide to end their facilitation and leave their breakout room to return to the main room. At 5:30 PM, all of the breakout rooms are closed and members will be returned to the main room for the ‘post discussion party'.
