Othrwise: Why Do We Feel Nostalgia (Online)

Details

Presented in association with Othrwise Online. Please RSVP there. If you would like to help us host in person events, please see the details here.

Welcome to our first ever Othrwise event! TWD has a new name but our group's core values remain unchanged; we are committed to diversity of thought and compassionate conversation and feel the new name, Othrwise, better represents those values.

In-person and online round-table discussions are still at our heart, but this evolution also expands our events with a range of social activities, thorough exploration of our topics, and ongoing online forums via our new platform. Check it all out here.

For today's topic: suggested viewing before we meet (4 min video): Why Do We Feel Nostalgia

  • In what ways might nostalgia influence our decision-making and future aspirations?
  • How does the commercialization of nostalgia impact its authenticity and emotional significance?
  • Is there a potential dark side to nostalgia that can hinder personal growth or societal progress?
  • How might nostalgia serve as a bridge between individual identity and collective memory?

Let's think about it!
