The Digital Road to Sochi Olympics
From Olympic uniforms to sharing athletes’ stories, join us for a unique opportunity to hear about what it’s like to manage the Canadian Olympic Committee’s digital presence leading up to Sochi 2014.
As the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Digital Manager, Georgia Sapounas @georgiasap (http://twitter.com/georgiasap) is responsible for creating and sustaining a great online fan experience, engaging fans on all digital and social properties, planning social media programs, launching digital innovation projects and working with external partners to implement digital and social initiatives.
Georgia also managed the recent re-launch of the newly designed responsive site (Olympic.ca (http://olympic.ca)) that will be the go-to place for all Canadian Olympic Team @CDNOlympicTeam (http://twitter.com/cdnolympicteam) updates during the Sochi 2014 Games.
More about Georgia Sapounas
Georgia Sapounas had the privilege of traveling and competing on Canada’s National Synchronized Skating Team for eight years prior to starting her professional career in digital media. Her greatest accomplishment was becoming a four-time consecutive national champion and skating to a World bronze medal in Prague, 2006. As an athlete, it was only natural for Georgia to move forward in her post-athletic career and work in sport.
Prior to her current role, Georgia worked in digital and social media at BMO Financial Group, OREA and lululemon athletica. She has a degree in Communication, Culture and Information Technology from the University of Toronto and a Diploma in Digital Communication from Sheridan College.
