Join us for a 4 mile walk from Foster Beach to the Bird Sanctuary at Montrose Point and back! We’ll meet at the beach house at Foster Beach and walk along the shoreline to the Montrose Beach Bird Sanctuary. We will walk past the Dog Beach, the Marina, and The Ledge. There will be an option to walk on the FishHook for a unique skyline view of the city.
After exploring, we’ll rest for lunch at The Dock or the shaded tables near The Dock. Get Directions below.

3 Options for Lunch

  1. Eat and drink at The Dock.
  2. Purchase lunch from the Concession Stand next to The Dock. Eat in the shaded area. (See menu in photos.)
  3. Bring a lunch and eat in the shaded area near the Dock.

After lunch we will walk back to Foster Beach.

Good to Know

  • We will be walking on pavement, gravel, grass and sand.
  • Expect sun with opportunities for shade.
  • There are bathrooms and water fountains at the beach houses at both ends of the walk.

GETTING THERE
Four CTA bus routes serve Foster Avenue Beach directly: 147, 146, 151 and 92. You can also take the Red Line train to the Bryn Mawr station and walk 0.5 mi east to the lakefront.

Route details:

  • 146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express: Exit bust at Foster & Marine Drive. Walk 0.6 mi east.
  • 147 Outer Drive Express: Exit bus at Foster & Marine Drive. Walk 0.2 mi east.
  • 151 Sheridan: Exit bus at Foster & Sheridan. Walk 0.4 mi east.
  • 92 Foster: Exit bus at Broadway and Foster. Walk 0.6 miles east.
  • Red Line: Exit train at Berwyn. Walk 0.5 miles east. (You will walk through the park and under the underpass.)

Driving:
There is paid parking available in the Foster Beach lot just South of the beach house. Rates are $9.18 for 4 hours or less.
