We will meet near the Main Street L stop in front of the Sketchbook Brewery (821 Chicago Avenue).
Our walk will take us by the grand houses near the lake through the Evanston Historical District.

We will spend about an hour doing a self-guided tour of the Dawes Mansion, the home of former U.S. Vice President, ambassador to Great Britain, and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Charles Gates Dawes. ($10 admission ticket). This massive, 25-room Chateauesque lakefront mansion was built in 1894 and serves as a National Historic Landmark.

Afterwards we will continue up the lakefront to downtown Evanston for a snack and a beverage. We will end near the Davis Street L/train station.
