Meet at the Orangery ( behind the Restoration Yard Cafe).
We will take two circuits - you can join for either.
Allowing for a few minutes delay for anyone coming by bus, the intention is for the first walk to start at 12.10 but no later.
12.15am - 13.30pm - anticlockwise circuit - slightly longer but faster as mainly on paths on the first half - and then coming back via one of the Esks. Can be squelchy and muddy as we go through the woodlands.
Then a 20 minues lunch break - I suggest you bring your own packed lunch as the cafe can be pretty busy. There are picnic tables to sit on outdoors.
14:00-15:30 - clockwise circuit - slightly shorter but harder going as it is going through the woodlands (you might be lucky enough to see a deer!) then returning via the other Esk with gnarly trees - again it could be a bit boggy and squelchy on this walk if it has been raining beforehand.
Please wear appropriate footwear and be aware the mud can be slippery.

BUS - IT takes about an hour + 10 mins walk. If you’re coming from Edinburgh city centre, take Lothian Buses 3, 33, 49 from Edinburgh to Dalkeith. Jump off on Dalkeith High Street (outside Morrisons for the No.3, Glebe St or Old Edinburgh Road for the No. 33 , Bridgend Court or Jarnac Court for the No.49). The walk is then 5-10 minutes up the High Street to the park. Services are fast and frequent.
From Portobello or Musselburgh, catch the number 140 East Coast bus. From Bonnyrigg take the 49 bus. Both take you to the Corn Exchange Bus Stop on Dalkeith High Street and you can walk from here.
DRIVING. Use Kingsgate (if it is open). Postcode EH22 1ST. If there is a diversion in place, follow to Towngate (postcode EH22 2NA)
