About us
This Poet Bears Watching has been running for 3 years . We are a poetry reading open mic and Featured poets. Centrally located in N.Y.C. With food and Drink and sometimes music, wee celebrate aspects or holidays of society such as Black Joy, (we just had our third annual celebration) Woman's Month, Mothers and Mothering, Juneteenth and Erotic Poetry for Halloween, Sometimes WIDE OPEN, Usually during April DURING POETRY MONTH, in an open mic format, On those occasions there may be a suggested poet being celebrated. Poets are encouraged to read (but not required )the work of a famous poet. Past poets include Maya Angelou and Nikki Giovanni. This year's poet will be Lucille Clifton, We will be meeting on or close to the last Saturday of the month unless otherwise indicated All poetry lovers are welcomed even those who re merely curious Meeting up is a way to welcome new poets to our gathering.
