What we’re about
A laid-back group focussed on good conversation with minimal structure. We'll take a thought experiment as a conversational jumping off point and see how ideas flow from there.
We'll meet in nice pubs/cafes/bars in central London. Everyone welcome! The more perspectives, the richer the conversation.

Start the week with thought provoking conversations and inspiring ideas 💭
The idea: A chance to meet and talk at a 'deeper' level than 'small talk'.
How we'll do it (timings approximate):
- 6:30pm - Arrive at the pub. Use the Charlotte Street Entrance and head upstairs. We will be in the upstairs bar with a red banner that says: THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBS. Ask at the downstairs bar if you can't find us.
- Organise ourselves into small groups (4-7ish...recent research finding: apparently 4 is the best number for a good conversation!)
- Have a look at the thought experiments (they will go live just before the event)
- 6:45 - First rotation begins - Talk about the first thought experiment, but feel free to veer off topic.
- 7:05 - Optional reshuffle: swap groups, move on to the second thought experiment.
- 7:25 - Optional reshuffle: swap groups, move on to the third thought experiment.
- 7:45pm - Wrap up - hear about upcoming events, join the whatsapp group, give me feedback/requests for future meetups.
- 8:00 Meetup ‘ends’. But feel free to carry on conversations :-)
Notes on the general atmosphere:
- The vibe is to let conversation flow rather than stick strictly to one topic.
- While we'd like to talk about 'meaningful things', we also see the value in lighter topics, so don't worry about not being 'deep' enough!
- Feel free to suggest ideas for future Thought Experiments in Pubs meetup groups, both in terms of structure and topics to discuss.
Where we'll meet:
This group will be at The Fitzroy Tavern. The nearest Tube stations are Goodge Street and Tottenham Court Road. Use the Charlotte Street Entrance to the pub and head upstairs. We will be in the upstairs bar with a red banner that says: THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBS. Ask at the downstairs bar if you can't find us.
Who should come:
Everyone! We believe that the more perspectives, the richer the conversation. This group is not about being experts in Philosophy, it is about doing philosophy. That is, bringing our various life experiences and lenses on the world to group discussions about the human experience, the nature of reality...etc. etc....

🌞 THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PARKS 🌞
We're hoping for another beautiful al fresco meetup in June. If it's raining, our backup location will be the Earl of Lonsdale Pub. I will make a call on the evening before and let you know where we'll be via meetup and whatsapp.

- Organise ourselves into small groups (4-7ish...research finding: apparently 4 is the best number for a good conversation!)
- Have a look at the thought experiments.
- 6:45 - First rotation begins - Talk about the first thought experiment. If you don’t want to talk about that one, move on to another one. Feel free to veer off topic.
- 7:05 - Optional reshuffle: swap groups, move on to the second thought experiment.
