Thought Lounge Session

Thought Lounge Session

Details

The Venue:

My daughter says that at the beginning of the Enlightenment era, people would meet in ale houses to discuss ideas and topics of the day. Later they shifted to holding their meetings in coffee shops because, although they came up with more ideas in the ale houses, they found that they came up with better ideas in the coffee shops. Well Mason Coffee Works combines the best of both of these worlds as it combines both a coffee shop and a bar in the same location. This will give us a unique opportunity to experiment first hand to see which works best -- all in the name of science, or course. ;)

What is a Thought Lounge?

A Thought Lounge Session (TL Session) is an in-person, formatted dialogue. The sessions work best with 3-6 people, but will still be held as long as one other person signs up.

Each person leads a 12-minute dialogue on a topic of utmost interest and/or urgency to them. Coming into the TL Session, participants are unaware of the topics their fellow participants will be bringing to the table.

There is one Host that organizes and moderates the discussion, specifically (and most importantly) by upholding the TL 5 Agreements of Dialogue.

After all the topics have been presented, the Host writes everyone’s topics on a whiteboard or piece of paper and participants take an additional 12 minutes to draw connections between them.
