The Illusion of Free Will

Details

The duration is approximate but won't exceed 1.5 hours. If you'd like to discuss further, I'll set up a follow-up meeting.

Topic: The case against free will and its implications for our personal lives and all of society.

Source material: Free Will by Sam Harris (published March 6, 2012), 96 pages long, $10.40 at Amazon. Feel free to choose paperback, Kindle, or Audible (though your decision won't really be as free as you think!).

Alternative Source: I found two recordings of Sam making his best argument. If this link works for you, you can ignore the pointer to the YouTube video below.

I prefer the book because it's easier to reference, but this recording is more recent and represents a more refined argument than you'll find in the book. You may want to both read the book and listen to the recording.

There's a YouTube "video" that is a recording of Sam describing this topic as part of his subscription-based podcast, so it's a bit unethical for this channel to have posted it. Note that the video portion of the recording is unrelated to what Sam is saying, and I find it completely distracting. You will want to turn away from the screen and just listen to Sam's explanation.

The meeting will be via Zoom with a potential in-person follow-up.
