User Centred Dojo - TechNExt special edition

Details

The User-Centred Dojo is a welcoming community in the North East that brings together individuals from various roles to practice, learn, and connect with others. Our primary objective is to establish a safe and inclusive environment where people can support each other in learning, growing, and experimenting with new ideas.

This TechNExt event special focuses on examining and showcasing how effective teamwork and organisational structures can be improved by understanding and leveraging individual skills. The session accommodates both students looking to identify and promote their skills and more experienced individuals, guiding them in supporting team structures and identifying skills for future planning, particularly in the context of Agile design.

It’s a new community so here’s the quick overview:
🥋 A dojo is all about a group of people getting together to practice skills in a safe space.
🧑‍🎨 This dojo is focused on learning user centred design skills
🌎 All roles and levels of experience are welcome, from enthusiast to expert.
⭐ Come to develop your confidence in applying different tools and techniques and learning from others
🤝 It’s a place where people get to know each other and build relationships.

How the Dojo works
It’s modelled after the “coder dojo” which is an event focused on hands-on pairing to practice software development. It consists of:

  1. A short overview of the topic/theme
  2. Do an example together as a group
  3. Split into pairs or small groups to do an exercise
  4. Playback findings to the group and reflect
  5. Meet and chat with people

Anyone and everyone is welcome
All you need is an interest in learning or working with design!
To spell it out, any of the following: 🙂
interaction designers, service designers, user researchers, content designers, information architects, UX designers, business analysts, product people, devs, engineers, architects, data folks, managers, students, enthusiasts and the design intrigued… so pretty much anyone!

All levels of experience are welcome

  • Exploring and interested in diving into the world of user-centred design
  • Looking for your first job
  • Early in your design career and looking to level up as well as share your knowledge and experience
  • Wanting to develop and broaden your skills
  • Experienced practitioners wanting to help people learn and grow
