Designing the Developer Experience
Details
Did you know in over 50% of organizations, software developers only spent 30-40% of their time on feature development? (State of DevOps Report 2018;2019).
We observe technical products and platforms struggling due to a lack of empathy with the user, the developer. Developers often spend long times waiting and switching contexts and tools - leading to a high cognitive load and degrading momentum.
It doesn’t have to be this way. A good Developer Experience gets your features into production fast, reliable and safe. Whether you are managing an organization or building a product for developers, it is time to research your developer users’ experience and invest in it.
Based on our experience building a cloud and an IoT platform that developers love, we will outline the business benefits of a good Developer Experience and share tips on how to start improving it. Together we will take a closer look at indicators that help you to identify the right opportunities to invest in.

19:05 Q&A
19:30 Goodbye and see you next time!
About the speakers:
Tanja is a Product Lead with Thoughtworks. Passionate about agile & lean principles to deliver products that customers love and always in search of the why.
Having worked on mobile applications for end consumers, SAAS products and platforms for business customers, I am currently driven by the curiosity to see how product thinking can be applied to products for technical users such as developers.
I strongly believe in the principle of “Mastery, Autonomy and Purpose” and would like to help organizations create a culture in which people feel safe and can thrive.
Jacob is a Product Lead with Thoughtworks. Once a developer and now working in product roles, he is driven by the idea of applying product thinking to technical products and platforms. In his recent adventures, he used the same practices for end-user product development to build an automotive developer platform that developers love.
Jacob's passion is with socio-technical systems, creating a thriving synergy between product, architecture and organization.
