What we’re about
Our form is derived from the Japanese Zen tradition, favoring simplicity. While we focus on individual sitting meditation (zazen), we also recite texts (sutras) together. Talks and private interviews with teachers provide a chance to ask questions and to refine understanding. Zen practice emphasizes experience over concepts, so no beliefs are necessary. It also allows us direct experience of underlying reality, so is not in conflict with other faiths. This practice fosters concentration and clarity of mind.
All aspects of Zen practice are designed to foster immediate engagement with the boundless totality available to us all. Our practice is both personal and engaged with the world.
We warmly invite you to join us.
