Starting at Hackney Wick, snaking through Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park & heading up into the forest for a circular route before heading back to East London. Exploring the forest on road bike friendly routes, expected mileage is 50.

What to bring:
Snack, packed lunch & plenty of water. You will need lights on your bike (incase we run over time for any reason) and a puncture repair kit would be a good idea.

This event is free, you need to be confident & competent on your bike & assume responsibility for yourself on the ride.

Setting off just before dusk, we'll take to our punt along with our Wildlife Trust guide. Using bat detectors we'll pick up on bat echolocation as the punt drifts down the river; our guide will interpret the type of bat from the clicks and squeaks of, for example, pipistrelle and Daubenton's bats, as well as identifying all the other sounds of the riverbank - from herons and tawny owls to roosting wading birds and the occasional passing fox. We can hopefully see mother bats fly in tandem with their bat pups! Bring a picnic for the journey along the river
