Virtual Thrive Meetup for Female Founders and Women in Business
Details
WHAT'S THE AGENDA FOR THE VIRTUAL THRIVE MEETUP ON 30 MARCH?
This Virtual Thrive Meetup is part of the Spring Forward Brighton programme for March 2022.
REFLECT
At our next Virtual Thrive Meetup, on Wednesday, 30 March from 6pm until 8pm on Zoom, respecting the new format, during the REFLECT section, I (Clare Griffiths, Founder of Thrive and host of the Thrive Meetups) will share with you a tool which will help you reflect on how you can make your business or work more fulfilling.
LEARN
During the LEARN section, for the fireside chat, I will be talking to Rifa Thorpe-Tracey. Rifa is a coach, consultant, and connector for the digital and creative industries. She advocates for diversity and inclusion for women and people of colour.
Rifa is also the organiser of the successful networking group, SheSays Brighton, for women in tech. She worked for over 25 years as a digital project manager in the tech industry, building large-scale websites, working at a senior level with global clients. Alongside the organiser of SheSays Brighton, Rifa is also the Festival Director of Spring Forward Brighton.
GROW
After the fireside chat with Rifa, I will facilitate small, breakout groups, so that you are able to GROW your network and meet other like-minded female founders and women in business.
Our Thrive Meetups are all about learning and networking in a safe, supportive environment!

WHO ATTENDS THE THRIVE MEETUPS?
Our attendees come from a range of industries and their businesses are of different ages. Many are solopreneurs, i.e. the owners of small businesses, working on their own as companies of one.
If you are tired of the more “traditional” networking activities, then join Clare and a friendly group of female founders at a Thrive event to feel the benefit of being part of an extremely supportive community of women in business.
OUR MISSION AND PURPOSE
Our mission is to bring together female founders so that they gain the knowledge, confidence and connections they need to grow a resilient, small business - whatever their growth ambitions.
Our purpose is to boost female entrepreneurship in the UK by increasing the number of female-led small businesses, so that it is at least equal to the number of male-led small businesses. The entrepreneurship gap between women and men starts at the early stage of business formation. In the UK, for every three female early-stage entrepreneurs, there are five male counterparts. This gap is structural, persisting for at least the past two decades, despite the UK's addition of an extra 2 million SMEs over this period to reach a total of 5.9 million in 2019 (Enders Analysis, 2020). In 2018, only 17% of SMEs with employees were led by women and 23% of SMEs without employees were led by women (Parliament UK, 2019).
OUR VALUES
I pride myself on following a “no bullshit” approach to business support. I design and deliver practical business support initiatives which are inspiring, informative and accessible to a diverse community of female founders and women in business.
