What we’re about
Thrive in Midlife – Meaningful Conversations, Fresh Perspectives
Welcome to Thrive in Midlife—a space for connection, reflection, and forward momentum. We meet every two weeks at a centrally located, indoor public venue chosen by the week’s host. Each meetup offers a relaxed and supportive environment to talk, share, and grow together.
Midlife is a powerful turning point. We’ve lived through challenges and triumphs, gathered wisdom, and now we get to ask: What do I want this next chapter to look like? How can I create more joy, meaning, and purpose from here forward?
✨ Join us for thought-provoking conversations as we explore:
- What it means to truly thrive as we age
- How to reclaim agency over what matters most
- Building resilience, joy, and deeper fulfillment in the years ahead
Each event will have a posted theme to guide our discussion—though we welcome wherever the conversation naturally flows. Whether you’re navigating change, seeking clarity, or simply craving real talk with like-minded people, you’ll find a warm and welcoming group here.
🤝 Come meet new friends who, like you, are navigating the ups and downs of midlife and are ready for more connection, insight, and support.
🌱 Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your lived experience. Let’s support one another in making the most of midlife—together.
Group Guidelines

We value diverse backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and life experiences—and we’re here to learn from one another with openness and kindness. All perspectives are invited, as long as they are shared with respect. We have zero tolerance for any form of discrimination, judgment, or disruptive behavior. Let’s co-create a space where everyone feels safe, seen, and supported.

Using Your Instincts to Thrive
Central Library, 800 3 Street Southeast, Calgary, AB, CAHello Everyone,
Here's hoping the New Year has started off on a positive note for you.
If life did not turn out the way you wanted last year the good news is that you have another shot this year :)
Sharing with you a podcast I listen to often called, "A Bit of Optimism" hosted by Simon Sinek. Check out this 50 mins episode, "Your Instincts Know What You Want."
Join us at the Central Library, Room 3-10B for a meet and greet then a lively discussion about how we use our instincts.
You don't have to listen to the episode to attend.
Here's a summary of the episode that we will use to focus the conversation:
"Your instincts aren’t just whispers. They’re a compass pointing you toward the life you’re meant to live. But in a world obsessed with speed, metrics, and outcomes, most of us forget how to listen.
Arthur Brooks, bestselling author and Harvard Business School professor, teaches one of the most popular classes on happiness. But his insights come not just from research, but from a life of reinvention: from French horn player to scholar, from think-tank leader to teacher, and even pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago.
In this conversation, we explore why so many of us feel unhappy today, the real equation for joy, and why following your gut is essential. Along the way, Arthur shares how to treat life like a pilgrimage, why AI may strip away the struggle that makes us wise, and why the process - not the outcome - is where happiness lives.
If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re “falling behind,” or if you’re searching for the courage to trust your instincts, this episode will remind you that happiness isn’t something you chase - it’s something you practice, every step of the way."
Looking forward to catching up and sharing experiences. Hope to see you there!8 attendees
