Design Thinking for Everyday Business: Build Smarter, Not Harder

Details

Welcome to ThriveHub Foundation. A registered 501,C(3)non profit dedicated to Small Business success in Washinton. We’re a community designed around one simple idea — when entrepreneurs, builders, and creators have a safe space to test ideas, share openly, and learn together, better businesses emerge.

### 📌 About This Series

Running a business often feels like firefighting — reacting to urgent tasks instead of building for long-term growth. This monthly series introduces small business owners to Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design — simple, powerful tools to bring clarity, structure, and customer focus into daily decisions.

Each month, you’ll leave with one tool, one practice, and one small experiment you can immediately apply to your business.

### 🚀 Session 1: From Overwhelm to Clarity

In our kickoff workshop, we’ll focus on rewiring operational decision-making — learning how to cut through noise, clarify problems, and make choices that stick.

What you’ll experience:

  • 🤝 Icebreaker: Meet peers + share one tough decision you faced this week.
  • 🎁 Design Thinking Mini-Exercise: A hands-on activity to practice empathy, reframe problems, and generate ideas.
  • 🔍 Customer Insights in Action: Learn how to spot the difference between problems and solutions.
  • 🧪 Live Lab: Practice a simple 3-question interview framework with peers to uncover customer clarity.
  • 📝 Takeaway: Leave with customer interview questions + a Decision Dashboard you can use immediately.

Mini-Task (Optional Homework):
Try the Decision Dashboard + 3Q interviews for 2 weeks, and notice how your decisions shift when you filter for urgency, importance, and customer impact.

### 🎯 Who This Is For

  • Small & medium business owners
  • Early-stage entrepreneurs
  • Freelancers and solopreneurs
  • Anyone tired of “firefighting” and ready to make smarter, customer-centered decisions
