What we’re about

Hey y’all, and welcome to Thriving Bariatrics: Support and Connection!

My name is Lauren—though feel free to call me Lo Lo—and I had the Gastric Sleeve on August 10, 2022. Since then, I’ve maintained a 100lb weight loss, and my life has changed in some big and unexpected ways. I’m incredibly grateful for the surgery, but I’ll be honest—post-op life felt really isolating at times. It’s still a challenge some days to find support, encouragement, and real talk about what it means to live this new life.

That’s why I created this group.

I wanted a space where people could come together and be real about the journey—whether you’re celebrating a big milestone or just trying to make it through the day. Whether you’ve had bariatric surgery recently, years ago, or even a revision—you belong here.

This space is for:

Sharing wins, struggles, and all the quirky, unexpected moments along the way

Swapping recipes, exercises, and tips that have helped you

Talking about self-care, body image, relationships, and all the emotional stuff

Supporting each other through the tough seasons with kindness, not judgment

Building something real—a community rooted in care and connection

A few ground rules to keep things safe and kind:

Respect always. Everyone’s story and journey is different, and that’s okay.

No food policing. What works for one person may not work for another—and that’s okay too.

This is a hate-free space. All are welcome here, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, or religious background. Hate speech or judgment of any kind won’t be tolerated.

We’re here to share—not prescribe. Personal experiences are welcome, but please remember to consult a medical professional for personal bariatric care.

This is a brand new group, and I’m still figuring it out. But I’m here, I’m open, and I’m so glad you’re here too. Let’s build something beautiful—together.
