“My latest work has been figuring out how to combine upper and lower case letters into single one-line letterforms, with the added challenge of not having them intersect. I’m really proud of this series and look forward to sharing my appreciation for optical illusions and architectural abstract design.” - @louransmikhail
We are pleased to present A Type of Perspective, a solo exhibition by Lourans Mikhail. Join us for the opening reception on Friday, August 1st from 4p-9p during the First Friday La Jolla Art Walk.
Lourans Mikhail is a multi-faceted creative currently living in San Diego, CA., after honorably serving 13 years as a U.S. Marine. As a mixed media artist, Lourans works in the mediums of sculpture, painting, murals, and graphic design to explore different perspectives and challenge the complex narratives of socioeconomics, culture, politics, and race.
Inspired by his Assyrian heritage, graffiti, comics, anime, cartoons, and fine art, Lourans works in between the realms of pop surrealism and low brow. The use of wordplay and perspective is extensively used either figuratively or literally depending on the message and medium(s) used.
Lourans has a bachelors degree in graphic design, while his artwork has been exhibited in Museums and numerous galleries across United States. He has contributed to public art projects in locations such as San Diego, Anaheim, Memphis, New Orleans, and Chattanooga. His work has been the subject of television interviews with various news outlets and publications.
